Back from the great beyond...

Wow, it's been awhile - years have passed. It's now 2012! I received photoshop for Christmas (not sure how I've lived so long without it), and I intend to make the most of it. This is the first attempt: 

Love the band, love the songs. When is the new album coming out?? But seriously. What Mumford offers is not just awesome sound, but meaningful lyrics. They care about deep things in a way that is real and relatable, not overly noble or ridiculous. I think I could seriously be friends with these guys. 

Ideas, ideas, ideas

Browsing on Etsy is a very dangerous pastime.  I find so many new ways to be creative. Unfortunately, I don't even have time to do any of them. Since my main hobby, however, is jewelry-making, this Etsy find sparked a fire of artistic inspiration....

I am a material girl ... live in a material world

Hmmmm.... I just got an email from West Elm: "We're sorry, the sheets that were backordered until today are now backordered until October 21. Also, our website says they won't be available until November 15." Well, West Elm, I'm going to look elsewhere for better, cheaper sheets. Even though these sheet look AMazing. Have a look:

The lesson here is ongoing and two-fold: Material disappointments should not influence my mood in general, and sheets are sheets.  At least that is what my more sensible side is saying. The problem remains that I want a kick-A bed and grey/white striped sheets are surprisingly hard to find. So, do I abandon the dream sheets for a second-pick mediocre set? Or do I wait for (possibly) two months for the sheets I think I want, but haven't actually seen or felt? Decisions, decisions.

Primo

I am writing today because all great things must have a beginning.  Maybe, in some small way, I will make my own contribution to the world of words.  That is the best-case scenario. Worst-case scenario? I find another medium of distraction from school and work and life.  There remains little comfort in knowing that I join an extensive sea of bloggers who post interesting and informative things regularly. There is pressure enough in sending my thoughts, feelings, fears, joys, etc. into the vastness of the Internet, but do so in a way that entices readers to read... well, I may have to quit while I'm ahead. Am I ahead? Probably not.  Regardless! I make this a safe haven for all things quirky, unique, and interestingly weird.  Excited yet?  Just wait... just wait.
